Toronto taxi drivers on Wednesday staged a protest against Uber. About 2,000 drivers converged on downtown Toronto driving as slow as five km/h on major roads pralalyizing traffic.
The drivers accuse Uber drivers of driving without insurance and licence. They also accuse Uber of stealing their business.
“We’ve been working in this industry so many years and this is our livelihood. We play by the rules and it’s a regulated business,” said a taxi operator who is urging city officials to shut Uber down completely.
“UberX don’t have any insurance. They don’t have any licence. They don’t have any rules they follow. They are stealing our business.”
